In the case of wind energy, it takes advantage of the winds, which produce kinetic energy that, through a wind turbine, together with other components, produce electrical energy. 

Both types of renewable energies and their electric generators can be conceived within different types of configurations: the off-grid and on-grid type systems stand out.

Off-Grid Systems

Ideal for cases where the user does not have access to the electricity grid, the National Interconnected Electric System, or simply decides to be totally isolated from the conventional energy system. Off-grid systems use photovoltaic or wind generators or both, with the aim of producing electrical energy for consumption at times when there is access to the natural resource (sun and wind). In addition, this type of system accumulates electrical energy in batteries for night consumption and when there is no access to the natural resource.

On-Grid Systems

These types of systems are interconnected to the electrical network through special equipment and are used in multiple scenarios. A common case of these systems is one where daytime consumption occurs through renewable energies and nighttime consumption is carried out directly from the electricity grid, that is, without the use of batteries. There are other cases where electricity is produced and stored for day and night consumption, but the surplus production from renewable energies is injected into the electricity grid for subsequent sale through a bidirectional meter.

Solar farms and wind farms, both concepts allow the establishment of electricity generation systems, either for the supply of residential communities and industries or for the sale of energy to the local distributor.
